110 In the Shade chronicles the goings on in a small town, and highlights the beautiful things that happen once people choose to believe. The sound design executes the following:
Creating a soundscape that serves the needs of the show and transplants the audience into a believable environment.
The start of the show takes place in a drought stricken town. The sounds for Act I consist of ambience sound of a small rural town, and the added effect of a train for when Lizzie arrives.

There is a passage of time that occurs throughout the show. The ambience in Act II seeks to contribute to the passage of time by amplifying the sounds coming from nature.

As the show reaches its climax, the townsfolk do indeed have rain come to them. Thunder is added to the finale to help contribute to the events transpiring in the show.
