The Game's Afoot
Research and Concept
This production takes place in two locations. The first, a theatre for the final scene of William Gillette's play. Second is the Gillette mansion. In the theatre the use of haze, spot lights, foot lights, and strong saturate light was used to simulate the atmosphere of a theatre at the turn of the 20th Century.

Once the show transitions to the mansion, the lighting begins in a neutral warm palette that simulates what a normal evening would look like. However, a storm is on the horizon. The storm serves as a metaphor for the events transpiring in the show. Throughout the show there is a gradual transition from the warmth of the house at the top of the show to a saturate environment that simulates the thickening of tension in the show. In addition to the gradual color change, strong back lighting is used to simulate the effects of lighting happening throughout the show.
