Hello Out There Concept
The lighting design for Hello Out There focuses on creating a believable prison environment that shows how an isolating environment affects Young Man.
However, once the Young Woman makes an appearance, the lighting begins to grow in intensity to illustrate that a connection is being formed between two individuals.
As the play concludes, the Young Man is shot by his accuser's husband. His death results in the Young Woman being stripped of her connection with anyone. The lighting returns to the same intensity at the beginning to illustrate the loss of connection.
